Once embryos are developed in the IVF Lab, a promising approach, leading to great increase in IVF success rates, is the ability to grow these embryos ie culture them in the IVF lab before embryo transfer.

Conventionally, the embryos are transferred 2-3 days after egg extraction.

With continued research and now better incubator and lab culture conditions available, it is now possible to do extended culture and transfer embryos on day 5 with better embryo selection as well as synchronisation with natural  process of embryo attachment happening on day5/6 of egg extraction.

This has helped increase IVF success rates from 30-35% to 45-50% per IVF cycle.
